About The Rig Doctor
Get to know Mason Marangella AKA, The Rig Doctor

How it All Started
In 2007, I began building rigs. The first BIG client was Josh Smith, who I met at the legendary Baked Potato.
Josh and I spoke about building a guitar rig, and he agreed for me to build the rig for him.
My work for Josh Smith seeded rig builds and custom work and products for countless LA sessions musicians like Michael Thompson, Kirk Fletcher, Dean Parks, Steve Lukather, Paul Jackson Jr., John Shanks, Michael Landau, Allen Hinds among other household names in the LA scene.
By 2009, I had designed guitar rigs and custom built products for most LA session guitarists, as well as many of the Nashville session musicians, including Tom Bukovac, Derek Wells, and Dann Huff - in addition to working with several household names like Robben Ford, John Scofield, James Valentine (Maroon 5), Matt Schofield, Wayne Krantz, David Grissom, and Oz Noy.

Where did the name "The Rig Doctor" come from?
After building him his first professional rig, Rhett Shull gave me the name, The Rig Doctor, when he suggested making a YouTube channel showcasing my skills to a DIY audience...The name stuck!
What are the most critical aspects of a guitar rig to optimize tone?
Next, qualify all of your pedals to see that they not only work well by themselves but with other pedals that you plan to use on your rig. If you have a problem, troubleshoot layer by layer - start at the end of your chain and work backward with one pedal, then add another pedal, another, and another, until you can ID your issue.
