4. What cable and connectors do they use?

Ask what cable brand they use, and whether the connections are soldered or solderless. For a board that travels, soldered connections with low-capacitance cable are the reliable choice.

5. What happens after delivery?

Things break on the road. Ask about warranty, support and repairs, and how you reach the builder if something goes wrong at 5 p.m. before a show.

6. Do you ship your pedals to them, or do they supply them?

Some shops work only with pedals you send in. Some can source pedals. Some build the board for you to finish at home. Know which one you are signing up for.

7. Can you see their work?

Look at photos of finished boards, top and underneath. The underside tells you more about a builder than the top does.
